Let Me Run is not just a running program or another sport for boys to do. Let Me Run is a program that focuses on the whole person. It treats each boy as a unique individual. It is purposeful in teaching and showing the importance of healthy friendships, relationships and teamwork. It gives boys a safe place to talk about emotions and struggles that they are facing as 4th and 5th graders — struggles that often get dismissed by adults. After 5 seasons of coaching, I’m still amazed at the number of parents who tell me how much their boy looks forward to every practice, often more so than other sports they play. That alone speaks volumes to the intentionality of this program. It engages and equips these boys for not only the race at the end of the season, but for life as an adolescent.
