Thank you for your interest in becoming a coach. As a Let Me Run coach, you will have a very rewarding responsibility and commitment to the boys on your team.
Before the season starts, you will have the opportunity to communicate with your school or site to determine which practice days best suit your schedule. Your team will meet twice a week for an hour and fifteen minutes, and all practices start with a unity lap, followed by stretches, running, and activities. Then, each practice ends with the mantra — Let me be me. Let me reach out. Let me run.
You will coach the boys through exercise and fun activities, which will help them learn how to express themselves, reach personal goals, and improve their overall wellness. Let Me Run lesson plans, including “Real Men Show their Feelings, Everyday Heroes, and Getting to Know You,” prepare boys for the long run by encouraging full expression of their individual feelings. Plus, you will instruct the boys on proper running form and correct stretching techniques. At the end of the program, you and your team will celebrate your hard work with a 5k road race.
Each team requires a site coordinator, head coach, and assistant coach. Either coach can also serve as site coordinator. All coaches are required to take an online pre-training course and at least one coach is required to also attend the in-person/live training session but we recommend all coaches attend if possible.
